Re: Ludi Apollinares of 195 B.C.
I will host games in honor of my family, and put an additional 2,000 Denarii towards each victors purse. I will also free the champion of the celebrations, just as I would free the Argives from their bondage.*
*And of course properly compensate their master.

A scribae of Propraetor Domitius Corbulo approaches.
"On behalf of Propraetor Domitius Corbulo I will be entering 40 gladiators into the contests. The Propraetor has hand selected the fiercest barbarians from across Hispania to participate. One was said to possess six arms each wielding an enormous axe before the Propraetor cut off four of them himself in single combat."

The Capitoline Brotherhood of Millers have provided 30,000 Denarii of bread for attendants. Let it be known that Gaius Quinctilius Varus has paid for this feast! Rejoice in his generosity!
There are over 80 Gladiators entered in the games! The ground shall flow with blood.
