The war with Hannibal is over. The war with Macedon is over. Rome still faces instability and conflict. The Insubres and Boii are still riled up from the Carthaginian war and still menace the North. While the Romans claim a wide swath of land in the North as allies, the area is still very much not subdued. Bononia, Mutina need to be recaptured from the Gauls, and hopefully Placentia can be seized to strike a blow at the last powerbase of the Boii and Insubre people. This is expected to be a multi year campaign due to the numbers of enemy (60-80k estimated enemy tribesmen) and hard terrain (Marshes, forests, etc)
In Hispania, things are unsettled. The tribes inhabiting Roman provinces are effectively openly rebellious, while conflict with the tribes of the interior can be considered hostile at best. A Roman Praetor named Gaius Sempronius Tuditanus died last year and lost his army of 8,000 allied infantry to the rebellious locals. The indigetes, Bergistani, Lacetani, Cessetani, Ausetani are all considered to be unfriendly. The Senate has yet to order a reprisal, favoring waiting for the appointment of new Propraetors. It is expected that at least two Legions will need to be deployed to Hispania to settle this.
In Greece, things are settling down, but it is very delicate. The situation might explode, or it might continue the way it is going. This is all to say nothing of what might happen in Asia.
As Senators, it is your job to acknowledge these issues, and formulate a plan to combat them.
Oh, and Rome is still Rome, while you may be sent away to be Governor, or command an army, your peers might still be in Rome, plotting, building up a power base, expending all of their energy to overtake you in prestige, cash, and retinue. You might have a proxy senator to argue on your behalf, but it is much easier to peddle influence and gain clients with your main personality wheeling and dealing in Rome itself.

Keep budgetary and retinue/player orders in separate threads.
