Curia Session VII / 195 BC

We are gathered here today to discuss the growing influence of foreign cults - brought in by the influx of slaves from various regions and how to best curb these inferior, Barbarian influences from corrupting Roman values.

I will yield the floor now.

The proxy for Senator M. Silvius Pastor almost jumps to his feet, speaking sternly and with no gesticulation.

I, for the fifth time, ask for the presiding Consul to call for a vote on the formal Declaration of War - against the tyrant, Nabis, in support of our Graecian allies.

Should such a vote not be called, I move to adjourn this session.

The matter at hand is FOREIGN CULTS.

I thank the Conscript father for his impassioned words.

The Proxy for Decius Bellicus rises

"Conscript Fathers, I think it's amusing to hear the Consul speak of Roman values. He would not know what those are if there was a wax tablet hanging in front of his face extolling the virtues of Rome.

I echo the call of the proxy for the Legatus of my Consul, to put forth for a vote the measures as endorsed by the incoming Consuls and the rest of this body."

Conscript Fathers,

I stand with Silvius Pastor in this. I have said time and again the paramount issue at hand is war with the Tyrant Nabis.

The proxy for the Senator M. Silvius Pastor stands again.

I, for the sixth time, ask for the presiding Consul to call for a vote on the formal Declaration of War - against the tyrant, Nabis, in support of our Graecian allies.

I have even prepared language, from the words of the Honored Consul, which we can vote upon:
Rome, having exhausted all reasonable alternatives, declares war on King Nabis of Sparta.
Once the vote is concluded, we may re-visit the matters proposed by the Consuls-Elect in Curia Session VI for 559 A.U.C.

Should such a vote not be called, I move to adjourn this session.

The Consul throws up his hands.

Very well.
The Senate and People of Rome declare war against the tyrant, Nabis, in support of our Graecian allies.
Commence division.

The proxy for Senator M. Silvius Pastor remains standing.

For the continued glory and honor of Rome, and in defense of our Graecian allies.

AYE.

Allectus sighs

AYE

However, we have other pressing matters to address before adjourning the senate session.
