Senators Furius Pavo as legate, Caesonius Tacitus and Fabius Maximus as junior partners, to be empowered by this august body for this just cause.
To the mission at hand, the Senate charges you with investigating the capabilities of this resurgent Carthaginian state. If Legate Furius Pavo determines that the new status quo is a threat to Roman interests and peace, he is charged to present to the Carthaginian senate that Hannibal must be remanded into Roman custody for the duration of the peace. The Legate is empowered to undertake any reasonable efforts to ensure the success of his mission, subject to review by our censor.
