Choose Your Estate

Each player starts with an estate in a province of the Republic which generates a certain degree of ongoing income. Your money is brought over from these estates to Rome, where the center of your household is located. No matter where your physical body is or what job you are doing, your center of household must always be in Rome. Your estates could be threatened by pirates, enemy states, tribal uprising, or even something as a poor or corrupt governor. Fellow players may be threats to your income.

Where should you pick? That depends on what your strategy is. Do you want a relatively stable income? Perhaps Sicily is a good option. It has been Roman for quite some time by this point. On the other hand, it is also an easy target for an overzealous or corrupt governor to extract taxes out of you. Hispania Ulterior might be a good choice for expansion of your estate at the expense of tribal forces, but then again, if the governor is inept, or the Senate doesn't treat the threats seriously, maybe your estate is burned down by aggressive tribal forces. Maybe Sardinia/Corsica might be a good option if no other player chooses it, you would have the islands to yourself to monopolize some of the trade.

Players may choose where to start their estate:

Sardinia/Corsica
Sicily
Hispania Citerior (North)
Hispania Ulterior (South)
