A great topographical resource. Remember certain terrains have shifted significantly in modern times, refer to map plates to make sure a lake wasn't made by a 1930s damn, for example.

A great resource on field fortifications and other aspects of the war. Site seems to have been a passion project of someone with extensive source materials. Worth a perusal for novices and veterans.

Found a webarchive for civil war talk. If you played acw back in the day and ever googled artillery pieces, you probably got drawn to one of their articles at some point.

A far better resource that is still maintained, a civil war blog about a large variety of topics, over twelve hundred articles. Many highlighting more obscure generals.
