Dear colleague, I am unaware of any water security issue in our city. If there is a major crisis of fresh drinking water, I should like to be informed.

Proximus Maximus stood to speak once more

Good Lucius Regulus,

The city continues to grow every year and more people from all over the Mediterranean come here to seek their fortunes and establish themselves. Our infrastructure should be prepared to handle this increasing number of workers, merchants, and all other manner of peoples.

Aside from my own suggestions and that of Senator Caesonius Tacitus, I have not heard from the others. If there is not much support in the way of increased infrastructure spending, I will not press the issue. Though I do caution we will need to act on this matter sooner rather than later.

Conscript Fathers,

I think the simplest solution, unless there's significant additional support, would be to pass the motion as it currently is and consider increased infrastructure spending in another session. We haven't done any colonia in two or three years either so that's something else that should be discussed later on as well.

Conscript fathers,

Let us not forget we need to continue to fund the road expansion we approved two years ago. That runs to about 1,000,000 denarii (although I don’t have the records with me at the moment for the exact amounts).

Perhaps we should consider halting additional funding commitments until we pay for previous ones?

Consul Nero, after listening intently to the debate between the Senators, rises to speak

Conscript Fathers,

As there is only minor support for increased spending, for now I will propose my bill as it stands to be voted on. However, if in the future there is a desire by the Senate to propose an infrastructure construction bill, I will raise the matter to be debated.

Therefore, I will open the Senate to vote on the following bill.
Maintenance of Rome - 500,000 Denarii
Aediles funding for games in Rome - 100,000

Total - 600,000 Denarii
