Having awaited sufficient time for a number of Senators to vote, the Censor rises.

I vote Aye.

Censor, unless this man is a senator designated as a proxy, he should not be voting. If he is a freedman or a slave he should not be here at all.

The Censor looked first at M. Aurelius Cotta and then at Claudius Nero's client. After a few moments of visible deliberation he rose up from his seat and, tugging his toga, moved slowly through the Curia in the direction of Claudius Nero's client garnering the curious looks of bystanders.

Arriving close to the man, he promptly sat next time and gazed at the presiding magistrate, the Consul, as if nothing had occurred. To those in the know, something did occur.

Very well, the Motion passes

The Plebeian Consul has just one more motion to make on the day, the confirmation of a Legate to join the Patrician Consul on campaign. It has been pointed out that the Senate was unable to get to this voting before the end of the days business.

The Consul Valerius Marius has notified me that he intends to bring Gaius Quinctilius Varus. Does anyone have objections to this, or a more appropriate name to be put forward for this task?

Conscript fathers,

I feel it would be only proper to allow Consul Valerius Marius to have the Legate of his choosing confirmed. Let us confirm him so that the campaign may begin in earnest.

Upon hearing the name of Senator Quinctilius Varus, a man thus far silent in the chamber rose to his feet and shouted "Here here!". The man was Albinovanus Fango, currently the proxy of Propraetor Domitius Corbulo.

Conscript fathers,

Given that Consul Valerius Marius has nominated Senator Gaius Quinctilius Varus as his prefered legatus it appears only normal that the Senate, sanction this assignment. Were a motion to this effect be presented it would have my support.
