Quinctilius Varus was utterly shocked by the impunity which Pavo's proxy exhibited. Recognizing that a call to vote was made as the Censor's response was awaited he rose to his feet.

The business at hand is brought before us by the elected Consul. I know that Senator Lucretius Tricipitinus served dutifully in executing the governorship of Sicily, and his handling of finances is well known, he would surely be an excellent pick for the position. Likewise Senator Silvius Pastor is an honorable Roman, who I know would dutifully fufill the duty of colonization. Having just recently returned from the successful campaign in the region, I know it to be a bountiful land well earned by our veterans to bring ever greater glory to Mother Rome. Therefore I vote

That is not how the government works, you should know this. It is an ill omen that you would seek to spit on the legacy of the Republic in this way. Clearly enough debate has not been had when there are debates happening during the vote you called on your own mere moments after submitting your motion.
