RATIFICATIO PACIS CUM SPARTA ET TRIUMPHO (Ratification of peace with Sparta and Triumph)[/b]
Sponsor: Gaius Cassius Vecellinus

RECOGNIZING the need to restore the state of peace with Sparta on conditions acceptable to Roman honor;
ACKNOWLEDING the martial feats of Consul Titus Furius Pavo in his war against Sparta of 194 B.C.;

Be it enacted by the Senate of the Roman Republic in the Curia Hostilia assembled,
I. The following treaty negotiatied by Consul Titus Furius Pavo on behalf of Rome and Nabis on behalf of Sparta is hereby ratified:
Treaty of Sparta with Rome and her Grecian Allies
1. Argos is now a liberated and free independent state.
2. All Argive soldiers in Nabis' army are allowed to return home.
3. Nabis shall remain in power, Sparta an independent state.
4. The coastal Laconian cities will be given independence and the Spartan fleet shall be divided evenly between them.
5. Sparta shall promise to pay a warn indemnity of 300,000 for the next 8 years.
6. All alliances with Cretan cities are voided and Sparta shall not enter into any new alliances with Cretan cities.
7. Any woman who was married to an ex-helot but whose husband was in exile to join him
8. Nabis shall surrender to Rome five hostages, including his son, to guarantee the terms of this treaty.
II. The Senate awards Titus Furius Pavo a Large Triumph in recognition of his victory over Sparta, the funds for which will be released immediately from the Temple of Saturn.
