The Proxy rises
"Conscript Fathers, why would we keep one donor public and the rest private? If we're saying all are equal, the foundational basis of the Republic, why would we hide all but one? Furthermore, I am concerned with giving over the oversight of this project to someone who is serving as a Propraetor for far off Sicily. It should be left to the Senate to decide such a matter or to the proper authorities in light of the absence of a Censor."

He is a proconsul of Rome.

The proxy for Consul for Furius Pavo nods in agreement
It is wisely said that donations by Silvius Pastor are inspiring, he is currently governing dutifully abroad. It is best to assign someone else to oversee the construction of this project, if at all possible.

I will say to my two esteemed colleagues that, as no state funds are being provided for the project, this now does not concern the Senate. Public works are under the jurisdiction of the Aediles and it would be improper for the Senate to instruct the Aediles who to select to oversee the project.

The Consul rises.
Conscript fathers,
I have no desire to split the chamber on a matter of so obvious benefit to the Republic nor delay the day's agenda on further discussion of the motion. The matter is adjourned for the time being though I would invite the good Senators involved in this discussion to a meeting, outside the Curia, where a proposal can be drafted for reintroduction in a future session.
Let us move speedily with the day's order of business.
For the following motion:
Quí hoc cénsétis, illuc tránsite; quí alia omnia, in hanc partem. (Whoever thinks this, go over there; whoever thinks anything else, to this part.)
May the will of the Senate be known to all.

WHEREAS the city of Rome requires yearly maintenance of its aqueducts, temples and other public property;
Be it enacted by the Senate of the Roman Republic in the Curia Hostilia assembled,
I. The Censor, or in his absence the Aediles, is authorized to allocate 500,000 Denarii for the purposes of conducting Rome's yearly infrastructural maintenance;
Written into the annals in the consular year 194BC of Gaius Cassius Vecellinus and Titus Furius Pavo.
Quí hoc cénsétis, illuc tránsite; quí alia omnia, in hanc partem. (Whoever thinks this, go over there; whoever thinks anything else, to this part.)
May the will of the Senate be known to all.
